Craig Gardner - Boothy & Becks

By Samantha Shilton

Name: Craig Gardner

Age: 23

Nickname: ‘Gards’ I get called sometimes.

Position at club: I am assistant secretary, and I used to be a coach for one of the teams but I’m not doing that anymore as I’m going away travelling in a couple of months. I also play for the first team and am captain of that team.

How long have you been connected with the club: About 7 or 8 years I think it is now.

How did this come about: One of my mates from my school in Mirfield played here, so I came here with him and I’ve been here ever since.

Favourite cricketer: I’d have to say Graham Napier who plays for Essex.

Favourite sportsman/woman: Andy Booth, the Huddersfield Town legend!

Favourite TV programme: Family Fortunes, the new one with Vernon Kaye. Vernon’s the man.

Favourite pastime: Football. I spend a lot of time playing and watching, and I don’t ever seem to get bored of it.

What music do you like: I like a bit of Indie and Hip-Hop. The last gig I went to was in Manchester, to see Oasis, which was great.

Favourite film: Crash, the older one that’s a bit darker than the newer one.

If you could invite any 3 people in the world over for dinner, who would you choose and why: If it can be anyone living or dead, I’d say Winston Churchill, Bob Marley and David Beckham. They’re all legends in their fields and I think it would make for an interesting dinner.

What type of food would you serve: Italian, my favourite would be a nice cannelloni.

What drinks would you serve: Most definitely beer, and champagne.

Best attribute in people, or particularly cricketers Hard work, and loyalty.

Worst attribute: Being lazy, and not doing much on the field. We’ve a lot of people like that at this club!

What is your biggest pet peeve: People who aren’t themselves, and who are really quiet.

Highlight of your working life: Winning contracts with clients is probably the best part of my job, and it’s always nice to land a good one. That’s the main highlight I’d say.

What is your favourite thing about summer: Girls in bikinis has got to be the best thing.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what one thing would you have with you: My mobile phone I think, that’s the thing I’d certainly miss the most.
